Cinnamon Twists

Ingredients

  • Flour

  • Pastry dough

  • Butter

  • Cinnamon

  • Sugar

  • Baking spray

Instruction​

  • Sprinkle flour over a cutting board or counter surface

  • Roll out pastry dough to 1/4 inch thickness

  • Brush melted butter over the top

  • Line a baking tray with greased parchment paper

  • In a bowl, mix together a 1:4 ratio of cinnamon and sugar

  • Sprinkle the sugar mixture onto the pastry and press it into the dough

  • Flip the dough over, brush butter on the new side, and sprinkle the sugar on the new side

  • Cut the dough into 1 inch thick strips

  • Stack the strips up in layers of 2 and twist together loosely

  • Arrange on the tray and refrigerate for 20 minutes to solidify

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

  • Bake for 15-18 minutes

  • Place on a metal rack to cool and dust with a bit more sugar

Variations:

Since you are layering two strips together, you can add a filling between them such as:

  • chocolate

  • Nutella

  • crushed nuts

  • almond slivers
