Pumpkin Hand Pies

Ingredients

  • Pastry dough

  • Flour

  • Pumpkin pie filling (or whatever filling you'd like)

  • Baking spray

  • 1 egg

  • Powdered sugar (or whatever toppings you'd like

Instruction​

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

  • Spread puff pastry dough over a floured surface

  • Roll out and cut into squares that you will be folding in half to make the pocket

  • Filling Options:

    • Pumpkin pie filling (this is different from puree - you only make that mistake once)

    • Nutella

    • Fruit and sugar

    • Jam

  • Dip your finger in water and wet the inside of the dough where you will be sealing the pie

  • Fill each pastry with the filling and fold them closed

  • Dip a fork in flour and use it to crimp the edges of each pastry

  • Dip a knife in flour and cut 3 slits in the top of each pastry

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with baking spray

  • In a small bowl, whisk one egg and use a brush to apply the egg wash to the top of each pastry

  • Bake on the greased sheet for 15 minutes

  • Remove and let the pastries cook

  • Top the pastries with one or more of the following:

    • powdered sugar

    • crushed nuts

    • drizzled chocolate

    • a powdered sugar/butter icing
