
Red Wine Poached Pears

Ingredients

4 pears
-
Red wine (inexpensive, but not so much that it tastes bad)

1 cup sugar
-
Vanilla
-
Cinnamon
-
Chocolate bar
-
Hazelnuts
Instruction​

Peel, core, and half 4 pears

In a large pot, combine:
-
A bottle of (cheapish) red wine
Yes, you can drink some of it -
1 cup of sugar

A few splashes of vanilla
-
A generous amount of cinnamon

Add in the pears and simmer for 35 minutes, turning every 10 minutes

Remove pears from the pot and let cool

Store in a container filled with the wine mixture overnight

Remove pears from the container and pour the wine sauce back into a sauce pan
-
On medium-high heat, stir continuously until the mixture reduces by half and thickens
-
Serve the pears over vanilla ice cream

Top with:
-
The red wine sauce reduction
-
shaved chocolate
-
crushed hazelnuts

Don't add that to yours.
